Q For this discussion board, you will be focusing on one of the most challenging parts of writing an essay: the introduction. First, post your introduction paragraph from your Literacy Narrative in its current form. Next, choose at least two introductions written by your classmates to comment on in detail. Provide some feedback on each, answering at least the following: What is your overall experience of the introduction as a reader? How did it make you feel? Does the introduction start in a focused way, not "since the beginning of time"? Does the opening sentence grab your attention with an interesting statement or anecdote? For example, an introduction might start in medias res, Latin for "in the middle of things," and begin with a climactic moment before going back to the beginning of the narrative. It could be a thought-provoking statement about learning about reading and writing, or about the author. It could begin with an epigraph, a quote about reading or writing that relates to the story. Does the introduction provide enough information that you feel well grounded––not lost? How is the writer's tone? Is there personality? Does it flow smoothly? Are there grammatical errors? Help the author proofread by marking what you think are errors. The entire assignment is due on Week 7, Day 5, so I recommend posting your introduction by Day 3 (Wednesday).
